Howsy is a property management app that aims to make renting a satisfactory experience for landlords and tenants. The company claims to have created a digital ecosystem that removes traditional agents, bringing down the cost of managing a property by an estimated 75% and delivering satisfactory customer service. Howsy has 7,000 properties on its platform mixed between recurring revenue and one-off customers. It has also acquired two of the largest online agents in the UK, Upad and Happy Tenant Company, in December 2019 and September 2020, respectively. Howsy asserts that it has achieved a 130% year-on-year revenue growth despite the COVID-19 pandemic and has featured in press entities like Forbes, The Guardian, TechCityNews, and Startups.co.uk, amongst others. It will use the investment for working capital allocation across marketing, general/admin, and technology. It will also use the funds to provide a stable runway to its Series A funding round, which it hopes to complete by January 2022.

Till date, the company has lent £71.9 million against assets worth over £410 million, repaid £28 million of capital and return to customers, and saw a 354% increase in revenues in 2019. CapitalRise is ranked #1 in both 1-year and 3-year net returns as verified by leading loan analytics firm, Brismo. The company has won awards including, the British Bank Awards 2020 - Best Alternative Finance Provider. Innovate Recycle (IR) is a company that aims to reduce carbon emissions from burning discarded carpets. It asserts that only 2% of the 400,000 tonnes of discarded carpets in the UK is recycled, with the rest going into a landfill or being incinerated. IR further points out that burning waste carpet leads to an estimated CO2 impact of £16 million per annum in the UK. It wants to solve this crisis. IR is building a new carpet recycling plant in Northamptonshire that would be able to recycle carpets into reusable materials. They have already received grant funding of up to £2.35 million. IR claims that a single production line in the plant, at full capacity, can recycle up to 20,000 tonnes each year and generate 12,600 tonnes of polypropylene pellets. It will use the investment to expand to a second production line by Year 4 at the same facility.

The company claims that its technology can potentially reduce global beef CO2 emissions equivalent to 50 million cattle. Elemental asserts that its technology has been developed through extensive R&D and protected by patents in 60+ countries. The company raised £1.5 million on Crowdcube in late 2019, signed agreements for 14 projects in the UK and Europe using its technology, built a demonstrator plant and agreed to install its technology on commercial terms at 6 UK abattoirs. The company states they will use the investment to operationalise their first plant by December 2021 and grow their business across different verticals.
