Once open, Maggie’s Barts will be a unique and welcoming place, offering comfort and peace of mind to anyone affected by cancer, across London. As an independent charity, Maggie’s relies on voluntary donations to support and grow its network of Centres as well as to develop its unique, high quality programme of support. This Christmas, VentureFounders is asking for your help the raise £250,000, which will make the biggest difference possible to people living with cancer, their family and their friends, across London. All donations are gratefully received and VentureFounders will be accepting donations from a minimum of £20.00. To support the campaign, VentureFounders will make a donation of 5% (five per cent) of any Arrangement Fees we receive for investments made in our current live opportunities from 2nd November 2015 to 4th January 2016. In addition, VentureFounders will cover all payment processing charges incurred during the campaign. Maggie’s provides free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer, their family and their friends, following the ideas about cancer care originally laid out by Maggie Keswick Jencks. Built in the grounds of NHS cancer hospitals, Maggie’s Centres are places with professional staff on hand to offer the support people need. The first Maggie’s Centre opened in Edinburgh in 1996 and since then Maggie’s has continued to grow, with 18 Centres at major NHS cancer hospitals in the UK, online and abroad.
