www.businessagent.com , the UK’s first debt and equity crowdfunding aggregator has announced the appointment of Stephen Hazell-Smith as Chairman, an appointment that founder Sacha Bright sees as a major landmark in the company’s evolution.

‘We’re very proud and excited to welcome Stephen on board. As well as bringing his immense experience and insight to the BA boardroom table, Stephen brings a great deal of prestige – to our company and to the equity crowdfunding sector as a whole,’ says Sacha.

Mr Hazell-Smith is well-known in the City for his enthusiasm for smaller companies, as evidenced by his key role in the establishment of AIM (the LSE’s Alternative Investments Market) in 1995 and as the creator of Beacon Investment Trust, AIM’s first significant institutional investor. Other highlights in an extraordinarily impressive CV include founding the UK’s first stock-swap fund in the shape of Pilot Investment Trust PLC in 1992, his four years as CEO of Close Investment Limited and his role as Chairman of Plus.

‘That’s a roll-call of financial firms in which any young company would be happy to be included but it’s Stephen’s business philosophy that’s most important to us,’ enthuses Sacha Bright. ‘Stephen’s been a consistently compelling and cogent champion of crowdfunding so his very presence in the hot seat of the UK’s first equity crowdfunding aggregator speaks volumes for our sector’s development. I really do believe that with Stephen on the board, BusinessAgent is about to herald equity crowdfunding’s coming-of-age!’

‘I'm delighted to be working with Sacha and his team,’ says Stephen Hazell-Smith. ‘Crowdfunding presents the best opportunity that I have seen in my lifetime to democratise investment so that backing enterprise is no longer the preserve of a small number of institutions and individuals. Businessagent.com's aggregation services enable everyone to see the world of crowdfunding investment opportunities all in one place.’

The appointment lends a considerable degree of cachet and gravitas to www.businessagent.com – and it also marks the beginning of an exciting new phase of growth for the company and the very concept of equity crowdfunding.
